a triple post

okay so i got really behind in my log, but no worries everything will be caught up in a moment.

Okay so Friday was our primary workout.
it was a 30 min fartlek of 3 on 2 off and than 4 ks. On thewarmup i was limping pretty badily, but it all smoothed out by the time of our fartlek. it was very windy today, but the fartlek realy didnt feel all too bad. We went out to redoubt and than through country and road and back on campus it was a perfect 30 min. Than we had 3 min of just jogging around and than we went straight into the ks. Gibby did nt tell us how much we had to do, but i was figuring it was goign to be based on how i looked. I actauly didnt do too bad today. i ran 2:52, 2:53, 2:52 and than a 400, in mighty mighty winds. I only did a 400 because my hip was hurting pretty bad, i wish, retrospectively speaking, that i finished it, but it was probably all for the best. Cool down and what not. Totaling to 14.5 miles

Sat:
had our long run, it was nt a very good paced long run. it had lots of stops and just wasnt very fluid from the begining, becasue my shin and calf were really bothering me. I did a total of 2 hours, but i am counting it as 19. It just wasnt a great run, but it's not a big deal. i really need to get on top of both my injuries, before i go home. ohh.. we ran at newport, i hate newport
19 miles

Sunday:
Again 15 mins of the beginning of the run were terrible and i was limping around. Today was my easy day so i took that to heart and ran for about 58 mins. I am counting it at 9 miles. even though only the beginning was probably that slow. It was a nice pleasant run and i rather enjoyed today.

WEEKLY MILEAGE: 92 miles total

Kakapoo!!

At one time, the kakapo population may have reached hundreds of thousands or even millions, all across New Zealand. By 1995, that number had dropped to just 50. Problems first arose when the first human settlers—Māori from Polynesia—arrived around a thousand years ago. Although the Māori killed some kakapos for their food and their skins, a more serious problem was posed by the kiore, or Polynesian Rat they brought with them: it fed on both the kakapo eggs and their young. In the 1840s, an even bigger problem arose. European settlers posed a triple threat: they destroyed much of the kakapo’s habitat, hunted them for meat (and captured many more for museums and zoos), and brought still more animals that preyed on the birds. Within a few decades, the kakapo population was severely depleted and the first conservation attempts were made—though they did little good.

New Zealand’s Department of Conservation initiated a Kakapo Recovery Plan in 1989. All surviving kakapos have been relocated to two small, predator-free islands, and are monitored closely. Work is underway to encourage breeding, protect the birds’ habitat, ensure adequate food supplies, and safeguard the health of the surviving population. So far, the program has enjoyed significant success: as of 2006, the population had increased to 86. They’re still a long way from being self-sustaining, and some people fear that the gene pool is now too small to keep the species viable. But there is at least reason for optimism. Even without flight, the kakapo may yet rise again.

this morning i woke up and was limbing all around. i could hardly walk, but i had a training room appt. so i went out and got my stim and stretched out. It had really no affect, as i was still limping all around during the day. Thankfully it loosened up a little bit after walking around a lot. I went to the market and got some aleve to reduce inflammation.

before the run i stretched for a good while and things began feeling a little better. Before the day started i didnt think i would be able to run, but i did anyways. I went 10.5 miles for the day, my hip didnt hurt as bad as yesterday, but i could still feel it a little bit. in the begining i def was limping, gibby even made a comment, but things loosened and made it more smooth.

I didnt do core with the team or my stride, because gibby thought i shouldnt becasue of my hip and i totally agreed. It allowed me to get a in a real good stretch.

Cardinal

The heart does not easily give up.
Late fall, berries gone, bare limbs corkscrew in daylight. I watch him from the shell of my wing-back chair, his insistent charge toward glass. Day into day, the thump and hover, his own ticker-tape parade of one. Birds have been flying blind into these windows for years, but this-- a warning, crimson spirit,…

i saw a beautiful cardinal today it was gorgeous.

Today was my MR+, apparently we rolled, it didnt feel like it, but i guess thats good. I went to the training room this morning. I got some advice on stretching and some STIM. Did nothing, as my si joint was worse than ever today on the run. i felt it during the whole thing and half time it seemed like i was limping. I plan on stretching tonight before i go to bed and setting up a regular 4 times a day cycle.

Terrible Day

So today, as i mention in my earlier blog was a jammed packed day. It started great my comparitive politics exam went rather well. I killed all the free response, the mc was a little shaky, but i think i pulled an 8/10. As the day continued, shit got progressively worse. I had very little time to study for my Mythology exam and i got back my dismal english paper. I have never felt so poorly and lowly about a single academic thing in my life. It was just full of critiques and not useful critiques, just bascially telling me i am a fucker. My prof wants me to meet up with and resubmit, which is gracious of him and i definitely did not write a well written paper, but i just feel so dishevled and worried (for w.e. reason) about this paper. I usually pride myself with the albitlity to write rather well, but today was big eye opener to really having to master every paper and spend the adequate time necessary. Hopefully i can figure things out, but we ll see. Oh mythology went horrendously... :(

==--========== ======== ============ ============ ==========
15.2 miles today. SWO workout. I have no leg speed. We had 3x800 and some unspecified amoutn of pace segments of 12 mins. I went through for my 800s 2:11, 2:10, 2:11. I was on the back end for all of them. I dont really understand why i am so slow when it comes to intervals. My miles were terrible and now these 800s were awful. I think it's my mind, but i cant really bank on that. Anywyas, i did my pace segments on teh track. They went alright, i was still getting dusted by a couple of people that i rather be closer to, but i was reeling and gaining on my last couple spilts. I made it to the 3rd one with everyone and coach split us into 8 min and the 3 AA did 12 mins. My hip hurt durign the entire day and i am hoping it s nothing too serious, but i spent till 8:20 in the track working on my entire lower body with stretching. Now i am icing and just hoping to recover a little better.

Splits for the pace segments were:
12min- 2.38, 2.37, 2:38, 2:36,
12min-2:34, 2:36 2:36 2:38
8min- 2:29, 2:29, 2:28

New problem

So tonight i am kind of stressing, i have two midterms, but i am for some odd reason really nervous for my comparative politics exam. It shouldn't be too hard, but i just feel that i do not know any of the information, i am not nearly as disheveled about my mythology exam, as i believe i know many of the things, but probably have the same amount of mastery in both class (little). Hopefully all will go well, i did all the readings for my politics class, and ironically have not done many for my myths class. I am thinking about logging more hours than i normally do for this politics test, to hopefully allow for a smoother test, but we shall see i have my doubts.

Todays run was a normal mr run. JG came up to me asking me to run and i was happy to join him. Thomas and John Muller also accompanied us and we went off to the trails in the storming rain. The run itself was not bad, but i just was not in the mood to run, it was raining and i had not been having the most pleasant of days (due primarily to the weather outside). Jon and i ended up finishing 11.5 miles together. I did two strides afterwards, but my hip and groin area were not feeling to hot, so i just stopped there instead of doing 4. Afterwards we did core, which my shin surprisingly felt really good in (im guessing my sleeve compression really helped that).

During my run, my shin hurt for about the first 10 minutes and than it mainly subsided. Awkwardly my hip would feel out whack for the rest of the run, probably due to an improper compensation for my shin which has irritated that as well.

New Trainer

So this is for Sunday:
Had our long run and what a terrible run it was. Gibby allowed us to sleep in for a bit longer than usual. So i woke up pretty refreshed and ready to go. For some reason i was lagging around the locker room not really getting ready,e ven though i had arrived there 20 minutes early. This proved to be a terrible mistake. We departed for York River State Park, where we normally do our long runs. I rode with Ben, Jon G., Blitzer, and John M. As i got there and starting taking off my warmups, i realized that i had forgotten my running shoes and only had my nike air stabs! I immediately began yelling profane words, because the park was way to far away from campus to legitimately think anybody would drive back. Patterson noticed first and thoguht i shouldnt run, but gibby thought it would be alright, as long as i stayed on soft surfaces, to run in my worn out, beat up stabs.

This happned to be one of the most painful experiences. My shins were dying for the first 20 minutes of the run and i was getting a little woriried, but aht eventually smoothed out. I began constantly tripping and nearly collapsing on the trails, as i was not use to the extra wegiht that was burdoning my legs. After John M. and left the group we were running with, everything began falling apart. My feet were aching and felt that i had a 1,000 blisters making the last 20 minutes of my run a living hell. I began crawling and just praying for it to be over. Eventually i got through it. This possibly was the worst 16 miles i have ever run.

Third workout :(

Since i was unable to race this weekend, i had to do 3 workouts :(. I thought before i found out what the workout that it was going to have the equal weight of the SWO that we did before, but instead we did a fartlek of 1-2-3-4-5-5-4-3-2-1 with equal rest totalling up to 60 minutes.

In the warmup i felt terrible and my shin was kind of hurting (oh i got my calf sleeve so this was the first tim ei wore during a run. so intailly i thought it was goign to be a terrible workout. Thankfully it wasnt, we started a little slow and just slowly moved and progressing into the workout. I felt really smooth and good. I lost a little focus ont he back end 4-3, due to just being alone, but i still got quality work in those intervals. Afterwards, i felt terrible due to dehydration, but the kind workers of the WISC let me enter and get some water.

My running totaled to be 17 miles for the day, so glad to be done.

... my shin did not feel very good afterward, starting to get seriously worried, but not much to be done now. I think i am going to wear my sleeve fort he whole day today and see how it feels without during the night and go from there.

Gotta Catch Em All

This is for Thursday, had my Mr+ run. I ran 13 miles mainly with Pat, he was flying, but it felt good to press a run for once in a while. So it was actually fairly pleasant and relaxing. The tech racers are off tom., i am not racing due to tech not allowing unattached runners to race :(. Kinda bummer, becasue i ve been feeling pretty good actaully, but everything happens for a reason. So now i have a third workout on Sat. I think i got through mileage that i do not have to run on friday, because Gibby is only having me do 80 this week. Hopefully this will sure up my shin a little bit more.

For Friday, off, but i am going to off and on ice for about 3 hours total and get a really good stretch in. Hopefully i ll hack away on my homework that is piling up enormously around me.

An update on my life-- Thomas and Baker are having a Pokemon battle. I recently won on ebay a gameboy sp, yes it has a charger and a backlight!. It was an intense duel between two other people and i won it on literally the last second (yes i felt very accomplished). Anyways, the deal, is who can beat the game first. We started today (thurs) and i ve been progressign very throughly, i wont give away anythign untill the end, cuz we swore not to talk about it. But let's just say im confident.

SWO

Had a secondary workout today. 10 minute brisk run, at a brisk pace. than we broke it down on the track with 3xks (2:51, 2:49, 2:51) or soemthing like that. The ks were fine, the last one hurt a little bit, and i fell of pence a little bit, but that was more mental, as i am terrible at working together in workouts, but it s somethign i got to work on.

miscellaneous

The title says it all, i am going to talk about some things that have happened to me today, all random, none having to do with the other (well i do not know for sure, because i have not begun to think about what i am going to write upon)

1.So today i had to turn in my first english paper. apparently my teacher is a big stickler on grading his papers, so im a little on edge on how well i am going to do. On top of that, i got one of my friends to edit it and printed it and while i was going to hand it in, the first thing i saw was a huge grammatical mistake. So i still turn it in and i am just wondering what i should do. So than i got to thinking, maybe i turned in my rough draft instead of my final paper? So i went to him after class and told him my predicament and he gave me a grace period to get it into his box. (I still have not turned it in, but i do not think i need it into him by tonight, due to him leaving town, but i have it printed out and ready to go if i end up not being lazy).

2. If you are a regular reader to the "The Monotony" you will already know i have been having some shin problems of late. I recently purchased a calf sleeve to help it out. I am hoping that all it is, is shin splints and this calf should be affective in helping me rid this injury. If it is indeed bone, well i ll just look like a douche running around campus with it on :).

3. I have found a new favorite place to study and do work. Although I love my Andrews Hall, it's just too crowded to many people asking to use the room or having meetings in there that it just aint working. So there's this room that is usually deserted in teh library full of computers, because its a special computer room where only "CGA users only." Well being the explorer that i am, i went through the yellow and tape and found a home. Not only do i look really cool, as people see me in the "special room" with transparent glass windows, i also get my work done.
A special feature to this room is that their is two computer screens for one server, allowing me to put different documents on different screens, making typing and gathering information a cinch.

----------------------- -------------------------- -----------------
My run today was nothing special! But it was not bad, which is always delightful. Tomorrow will be bad, as i have a workout! Anyways i ran 10 miles with a good group of guys, hit up the new trails, conversations were at an all time high and spirits seemed lifted. i really thought today would be miserable as there was a ton of wind swirling about Williamsburg, but the trees protected myself and my companions. I owe my pleasant mood to the trees! After my tenner, i did 5 strides, felt viciously slow (oxymoron, Prof. Potkay would be proud). Than did an abbreviated set of drills (very chilly), and than did an abbreviated core routine (skipping supermans, as my back was ailing me).

I did not ice today, i meant to get some from the caf, but John rushed me out and i forgot. I cant say it was felt better today, but oh well. I am trying to keep my mind off of it, but something is telling me it's rather serious. I may take a short (hopefully) visit to the training room tomorrow or the next day.

Oh got my ambien so finally my sleep will be sufficient!
